As you may know, our youth group is planning a mission trip this summer to Camp Daniel. Camp Daniel is an organization dedicated to providing opportunities for people with disabilities to grow personally, socially and spiritually through a Northwoods summer­­ camp experience. Everyone participates in a multitude of activities designed to reinforce the concept of our need for each other and the value of our differences. Camp Daniel believes and teaches that God made you, God loves you and God has a plan for your life. This trip provides a great way, in a safe environment, for our youth students to gain skills and knowledge they will use the rest of their life:

Teamwork – Students will come together with other students and adults and become dependent on each other for help and encouragement.

Compassion – Students will work with a culture of people that are generally neglected in our very own communities. This gives a great perspective – the reward is as lasting for them as it is meaningful to those they serve.

Knowledge of Disability Culture – Students will be exposed to another culture, disability. They will learn how to communicate, care for and unconditionally love people with disabilities. There are people with disabilities in every community so this skill is one that can be immediately used when going back home to make a difference.

Spiritual Growth – Students will attend morning and evening services and build genuine community that will guide their faith in Jesus to become more powerful and real. Through this year’s theme, Shine, they will learn that we all have the power to shine love into the world and make a difference.

Students who have attended mission trips have said they grew closer to God, grew closer to people in their youth group, and that they wanted to attend another trip! Parents have seen their kids come home excited and positively impacted by their service experience at Camp Daniel. Please consider donating to our team.
