Summer Intern

Dear Family & Friends,

I’m writing to tell you about an opportunity that I have this summer at Camp Daniel! I’ve been a counselor for the past four years. This summer will be year five, and I’ve been asked to join their Summer Internship Program. Camp Daniel is an organization that is dedicated to providing opportunities for people with disabilities. Campers receive a Northwoods summer camp experience that provides them the opportunity to participate in activities that they don’t otherwise get to do outside of camp.

The Summer Internship Program focuses on team building and leadership skills. I will be learning how to use my talents and abilities to be a good role model to my fellow counselors and lead a successful summer at camp. Through my experience as an Intern, I will have the opportunity to make an impact on the lives of people with diabilities and help them grow spiritually, emotionally, and relationally.

Camp Daniel has become an important part of my life. I grew up in a religious household, but when I lost my grandma to cancer, I was lost. I never stopped believing in God, but I was so mad at him. I turned away from God and tried to live my life without him. When I was 15, I decided to give a week at camp a go. I absolutely fell in love with the atmosphere and feeling of community at camp. Camp Daniel saved my faith and turned me back toward God. The main focus at camp is “God made me, God loves me, and God has a plan for my life.” I truly believe God’s plan for my life involves Camp Daniel and this internship. I feel most at home, and I’m the happiest when I am at camp. I have built long-lasting relationships with not only the campers but also the other counselors. Camp Daniel truly is the happiest place on earth.

Being an intern requires me to be open to a lot of challenging and great experiences, and I am looking for your support! You are receiving this letter because you, like Camp Daniel, have had an impact on my life in some way. With your support through prayer and encouragement, I feel that I will be able to continue doing what I believe God has called me to do. The total cost for the internship is $800, which includes housing, food, training & transportation, and is due June 11th. Being involved in Camp Daniel’s Summer Internship Program is a mission trip, and just like other missionaries, part of my growing experience is to fundraise. With that said, a donation for this internship would be greatly appreciated, but keeping me in your thoughts and prayers is more than enough!

Camp Daniel is a 501(c)-3 non-profit organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. I will provide a small form with this letter with instructions on ways you are able to give. You can also check out my online page, www.campdaniel.org/megan-corrigan.

I am extremely grateful for all the support you give. We are also always looking for volunteers, so if Camp Daniel is something you would be interested in, do not be afraid to reach out!

I can not wait to serve God this summer at the happiest place on earth.

With All My Love and Thanks,

Megan

What is a Summer Intern?

The Intern Program is part of Camp Daniel’s Summer Staff Team. This is an opportunity for participants to build their leadership skills. They also play a fundamental role in the operational workings of the summer sessions. Interns help plan the training sessions for counselors and the activities that campers participate in during a week of camp. During camp, Interns help run these programs and will be overall good role models and leaders that promote unity and spiritual, relational and recreational growth among counselors, campers, workers and staff. This program will be used to equip participants with the skills needed to be effective leaders, with a focus on discovering and implementing their unique strengths as leaders.
