I’m excited to share with you that I will be participating in Camp Daniel’s Summer Internship Program this year. Camp Daniel is a Christian camp where people with disabilities are able to experience a week of summer camp and Jesus’ love. Last summer I was a counselor for the first time and had an amazing experience spending time with my camper one-on-one. 

This internship focuses on team building and developing leadership skills. It will provide an opportunity for me to use my God-given gifts and talents to serve the Lord. Which includes; building relationships, leading campers, counselors, and volunteers as well as helping run different activities. Most importantly, it will stretch and strengthen my relationship with Christ and give me a chance to share God’s love with those around me.

I have been blessed to grow up at Camp Daniel. As you may know, my brother Elijah has Down Syndrome. It has been challenging and rewarding growing up with a sibling that has a disability. Through my experiences with Camp Daniel and Elijah, I have come to love the disability community. Growing up at camp has taught me a lot of things, but one that has stuck with me the most is how to love others. Counseling for the first time was nerve-racking and it had its ups and downs, but in the end, looking back on the summer, it was the most extraordinary experience. My dream job is to open a coffee shop and employ people with disabilities, and counseling showed me that this is something I would enjoy doing. This is an enormous dream to chase, but I believe that God will open the right doors at the right time if this is what He wants me to do. I am hoping that this summer will clarify my vision for the future. Seeing how God works through the hearts and lives of people at camp is amazing and I am excited to see Him continue to work.
